Ruel W. Tyson Jr., 88, died May 30. Tyson, a faculty member for more than 30 years, founded the University’s Institute for the Arts and Humanities in 1987. To read more, click here.

Jacqueline E. “Jackie” Overton, 60, died April 29 in Carrboro. Overton, recipient of the University’s C. Knox Massey Award, worked nearly 30 years in the Department of Public Safety and served as chair of the Employee Forum  2010-13. To read more, click here.

Paul L. Bunce, 100, died March 18 in Chapel Hill. Bunce was one of the founding clinical faculty members of the UNC School of Medicine, retiring in 1981. To read more, click here.

James H. Scatliff, 89, died March 4 in Chapel Hill. Scatliff was chairman emeritus of the Department of Radiology at the School of Medicine and taught there until just before his death. To read more, click here.

Henry A. Landsberger, 90, died Feb. 1 in Rancho Palos Verdes, California. Landsberger was a professor in the Department of Sociology at Carolina from 1968 until his retirement in 1994. To read more, click here.
