New Currents in Contemporary Art

Watchtower

'WATCHTOWER'

Each spring, the Ackland Art Museum presents an exhibition of works by graduating UNC master of fine arts students. This exhibition introduces seven emerging artists who interpret ideas ranging from the personal to the political in a wide variety of media, styles and approaches. It is on display through May 10.

Sited on the Ackland’s front lawn, Dave Sinkiewicz's Watchtower (detail shown) is an 1982 International 18-wheeler sleeper cab, with an interior bunk, desk and video. Inside is his interpretation of the cabin of Unabomber Theodore Kaczynski.
