Stephen Bayne
Professor of operative dentistry and section head of biomaterials, Bayne has received an Award of Distinction and honorary fellowship in the Academy of Dentistry for his contributions to basic and biomaterials science in restorative dentistry and health sciences.
Environmental Resource Program
The Environmental Resource Program (ERP) of the School of Public Health received the first Outstanding Partnership Award given by the Environmental Educators of North Carolina (EENC).
The award recognizes an organization that has worked with the EENC and assisted in its growth and development. ERP helped launch the organization in 1989.
David Felton
Chair and associate professor of prosthodontics, Felton was inducted as vice president of the American College of Prosthodontists at its annual session Oct. 22.
Felton graduated from the School of Dentistry in 1977 and earned a masters in prosthodontics from the school in 1984.
Dennis Hillenbrand, Linda Levin, Mary Pettiette
School of Dentistry faculty members Hillenbrand, clinical associate professor; Levin, associate professor; and Pettiette, clinical associate professor; have been named fellows in the American College of Dentists in recognition of their demonstrated leadership and contributions to the profession and society.
Carol G. Jenkins
Director of the Health Sciences Library, Jenkins has been named Librarian of the Year by the mid-Atlantic chapter of the Medical Library Association, an organization of more than 5,000 health-sciences librarians.
The citation praised her for encouraging her staff to participate in professional organizations and promoting internships with the School of Information and Library Science.
David A. Savitz
Professor and chair of the Department of Epidemiology, Savitz has been appointed to a five-year term in the National Cancer Institute, has been elected president of the Society for Epidemiological Research and has been re-elected as North American Regional Councilor to the International Epidemiological Association.
