Wachovia creates student investing program

IJL Wachovia and the University have created a program that gives undergraduates the opportunity to manage an active stock portfolio.

The IJL Wachovia Investment Fund provides $50,000 for the Undergraduate Investment Club to manage through each academic year with the guidance of bank experts. If the portfolio appreciates, Wachovia will make a contribution to the Kenan-Flagler Business School equal to the appreciation amount.

During a test run last semester the fund grew by $4,621, and IJL Wachovia presented a check for that amount to the dean of the business school.
