The University will host its 20th annual Black Experience Workshop March 18-19 at the School of Social Work.
The theme of this year's workshop is "Remembering the Past, Assessing the Present and Planning for the Future." Speakers and participants will discuss racism and look at possible solutions.
A free public workshop and open forum will be held March 18 at the school's Tate-Turner-Kuralt Building at 301 Pittsboro St. The workshop will be from 2 to 4 p.m., and the forum will begin at 7:30 p.m.
Sessions on March 19 will take place at the William and Ida Friday Continuing Education Center off N.C. 54 East.
The scheduled speakers are Robert Hill, Andrew Billingsley, Jeanne Spurlock and Lou Beasley.
Pre-registration is $50 for the general public and $20 for senior citizens. Registration at the door is $65 for the general public and $35 for senior citizens. Participants also can attend the Scholars' Lunch, which costs $15 per person; reservations must be made in advance.
