Group embraces differences, promotes social work careers

A group at the University is helping its members get along on planet earth.

The group, named "Third Rock" after the popular NBC sitcom, brings students, staff, faculty and alumni from the School of Social Work together to discuss diversity issues and encourage people from diverse backgrounds to enter the field of social work.

During monthly meetings, members discuss personal experiences and plan events for undergraduates from diverse backgrounds at other colleges and universities. Members hope the events will encourage the students to apply to the social work graduate program.
