* People, at least 35 years old, who have smoked for at least 10 years and are currently smoking at least 15 cigarettes a day, are needed for a study on medication that may help people stop smoking. Participants will receive free physical examinations, testing and smoking-cessation counseling. The study will involve about 15 clinic visits over one year. * People 30 years or older with untreated moderate to advanced gum disease are needed for a two-year dental school study that will assess whether bone loss around teeth can be blocked by a drug approved for osteoporosis. For more information, call 6-5271.
* Women, aged 21-25 years who are not pregnant or using oral contraceptives, are needed for a bone-density study by the nutrition department. Bone scans and blood and urine analysis will be done three times. Subjects must be available for one year and will be paid $100 every three months, for a total of $400.
