The N.C. Area Health Education Centers, which is based at the University, has
received a grant to help improve communication between health-care workers and
the state's growing Latino population.
The $498,000 grant from the Duke Endowment will fund the statewide program
designed to promote Spanish fluency and related cultural competencies for
health-care workers in North Carolina. An additional $888,000 is intended for
the program during the next three years.
