William H. "Doc" Peacock, director of graduate studies in physical education and professor emeritus in the former Department of Physical Education, died earlier this month at age 88.
A faculty member from 1946 until his retirement in 1974, Peacock specialized in motor skill development in physical and health education. He believed muscles were meant to be used and often was seen bicycling around town until last year.
One year before he retired, Peacock received the Honor Award from the N.C. Association for Health, Physical Education and Recreation in honor of distinguished service to the profession.
