QWhy are cigarette receptacles not provided at all building entranceways, and whose responsibility is it to clean the few that are around?
APhysical Plant has been providing cigarette receptacles around many of the buildings on campus; however, some of the receptacles have been lost over time. We are in the process of purchasing approximately 80 new receptacles to add to our inventory and they will be installed as soon as they are received.
I have contacted Housekeeping Services and have confirmed that it is Housekeeping's responsibility to clean the entrances to buildings, including cleaning out the cigarette containers.
I appreciate your efforts to maintain the campus appearance through your use of the provided cigarette containers and hope that we can have the receptacles installed within a few weeks.

QI've noticed delivery trucks blocking parked cars and impeding traffic behind the Undergraduate Library and in the fire lane between Davis Library and Hamilton Hall. What is the policy for deliveries to Student Stores and cafeteria locations?
ADelivery vehicles are subject to the same regulations as any other vehicle, although they may be given a few minutes to move to a legal location. If there is a licensed driver with the vehicle who can move it if the space is needed, the vehicle may be allowed to stay in the illegal location until delivery is completed. This is standard policy for all campus vehicles as long as they are not in or blocking disability and reserved areas.
The standard method of citing a parking lot is for an officer to begin by checking permits. This allows delivery companies to have more time to complete their difficult task. Then, if a delivery truck still is parked illegally, the officer assesses the situation and issues the appropriate citation. In some cases, the officer also may have the enforcement dispatcher attempt to locate the driver and request immediate removal of the illegally parked vehicle to a legal location.
Davis Drive (at Hamilton Hall) has been a difficult situation this past year because construction of the fiber optic backbone damaged markings and pavement in the area. Getting the area correctly restriped and marked was difficult because of weather constraints. All of these factors resulted in parking problems in this area. The lot was restriped and correctly marked in late February, and we anticipate the new markings will decrease the abuse of parking along Davis Drive.
