Community meeting set for May 30

Quality improvement concepts in government will be the featured topic at the May 30 Employee Forum Spring Community Meeting.

The meeting, which will be held 10-11:30 a.m. in 121 Hanes Art Center, also will include a brief exploration of the World Wide Web.

Michael Williamson, an Institute of Government faculty member, will tell about his work to use quality improvement concepts in state agencies and how those efforts affect employees, said Kay Spivey, vice chair of the forum and one of the organizers of the meeting. Ann Dodd, the University's director of quality improvement, will be available to answer questions specific to Carolina.

"Besides being a national authority on quality in government, Williamson is an energetic speaker with a grand sense of humor," Spivey said. "He promises an entertaining presentation about a topic employees often hear about but aren't always sure they understand."

Janet Tysinger from Information Technology Services will give a short presentation concerning resources available for employees on the World Wide Web, Spivey said.

Attendance at an Employee Forum Community Meeting is considered work time when it occurs during an employee's regular work schedule. Employees should seek support from supervisors to attend, assuring that operations are covered.

For questions about the Community Meeting, call the Employee Forum office, 2-3779.
