Several schools and departments have honored their faculty members with awards for distinguished teaching, research and service.
The School of Medicine recognized James A. Bryan II, professor of medicine and social and community medicine, with its 1996 Distinguished Faculty Award.
The award, presented by the Medical Alumni Association last month, honors excellence in teaching, contributions to medicine, leadership in physician continuing education and efforts to improve communication among alumni, faculty and state residents.
Four faculty members in the Kenan-Flagler Business School were recognized for outstanding teaching last month.
Rollie Tillman, professor of business administration and chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Frank Hawkins Kenan Institute of Private Enterprise, received the undergraduate award. Henri Servaes, assistant professor of finance, received the master of accounting award; David Ravenscraft, professor of business administration, received the master of business administration award; and Carl Zeithaml, Phillip Hettleman professor of strategic management, received the Ph.D. award.
An award honoring distinguished research went to Aleda Roth, associate professor of operations management.
