A new Morehead Planetarium show explores some of the consequences likely to have occurred if the Earth's moon did not exist.
"What if the Moon Didn't Exist," based on astronomer Neil Comins' book of the same title, can be seen through June 9 at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday; 11:30 a.m., 3:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Saturday; and 3:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Sunday.
If a large natural satellite like the moon had never orbited the Earth, the days likely would be much shorter, the winds more ferocious and the atmosphere could have developed differently, Comins said.
