Walk-in clinic adds evening, weekend hours

The Urgent Care Walk-in Clinic at UNC Hospitals has expanded its hours to accommodate people who need to be treated at the end of the workday. The clinic is open 8:30 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday and noon-4 p.m. Sunday.

The clinic is set up to handle acute medical problems such as the flu, a sore throat or a urinary tract infection and is open to University and hospital employees as well as the community. The after-hours clinic is staffed by a licensed practical nurse, a registered nurse, a resident physician and a faculty physician.

Appointments are not taken, but people can call UNC HealthLink nurses, 6-7890, to determine whether they need to see a doctor.
