The UNC system's Board of Governors has given its approval to a plan to renovate Carolina dining facilities.
At its May 10 meeting, the board agreed to ask the General Assembly for authorization for the sale of revenue bonds to pay for the $13 million project. The bonds would be repaid with food service receipts and student fees.
The plan calls for renovating kitchen and dining facilities in Lenoir and Chase halls. Another story would be added to Chase Hall, according to the plan. It also calls for expanding the seating capacity of the dining facilities in the Student Union by 50 percent and to provide more upscale and healthy dining options.
