Employee Suggestion System needs your ideas

Have an idea to save money, improve methods or increase productivity at the University? If you submit your ideas to the state Employee Suggestion System, you could turn them into cash or awards, just as five University employees did last year.

Any full- or part-time permanent employee can submit a suggestion as long as it does not fall within the person's regular job duties. If the suggestion is implemented, the employee will be compensated.

Ideas that generate measurable dollar savings of at least $100 annually earn a cash award of $25 to $5,000, and those resulting in intangible savings earn one to three days' paid leave.

To submit cost-saving ideas that fall within their regular job duties, employees can apply to the Ralph Ketner Award program, which each year divides $10,000 among the people whose ideas saved the most money.

For more information about either program, check with your Human Resources facilitator or call Patti Smith, Employee Services, 2-1483.
