Health fair features food, fun, exercise

Free massages again will be featured at the eighth annual health fair March 28. Massage therapists will offer both five-minute chair massages and 15-minute table massages. Free massages are just one of many activities for the March 28 health fair, scheduled 10 a.m.-2 p.m. in the Student Recreation Center.

Massage therapists will offer five-minute chair massages on a first-come, first-served basis and 15-minute table massages for those who make a reservation beforehand by calling 2-2348.

The eighth annual fair--titled "Wellness Expo--Discover the Balance"--focuses on healthy fun. Fairgoers can receive tips on nutrition, humor, personal organization, dental and back health, and personal fitness, as well as having their blood pressure, cholesterol and glucose screened.

Carolina Dining Service will offer free healthy refreshments, including samples from their new juice bar, and participants can register for prizes.

Scheduled demonstrations are:

*11:40 a.m.-noon--slide aerobics

*noon-12:20 p.m.--juggling

*12:20-12:40 p.m.--funk aerobics

*12:40-1 p.m.--modern dance

*1-1:20 p.m.--self-defense

*1:20-1:40 p.m.--yoga

*1:40-2 p.m.--interactive games

Fair planners also are offering 30-minute mini-lectures, which employees can add to their Training and Development record if they want. Supervisors' permission is required to attend the lectures on work time. For a registration form, call HEELS for health, 2-2348. Offerings are:

*"Women's Health and Herbs," 11-11:30 a.m.

*"The Magic of Humor and Creativity for Your Health," 11:45 a.m.-12:15 p.m.

*"Organizing Living in a Disorganized World," 12:30-1 p.m.
