Feedback sessions on land use alternatives

set for Thursday

Land-use planning consultants on the Horace Williams and Mason Farm properties are in town this week to get feedback on the alternatives presented to the University in November.

An open campus forum will be held Thursday 12:30 p.m.-2 p.m. in 226 Student Union for faculty, staff and students to provide their comments and opinions to consultants from Johnson, Johnson & Roy of Ann Arbor, Mich.

That night from 6:30-8:30 p.m., there will be another public session for the community advisory committees and townspeople to express their views on three alternatives for Horace Williams and two for Mason Farm. The session will be in the seminar room at the Friday Center.

JJR will use the feedback to prepare a single plan for each property, which is expected to be presented to the campus for review in May, said Ted Hoskins of the University's Facilities Planning and Design Office.

In unveiling the alternatives in November, JJR consultants said the final plan most likely would be a combination of the alternatives and new elements. They stressed that feedback from the University community was critical to the process.

JJR has been working with the University for more than a year to provide general blueprints for these properties.

Color maps and explanations of the alternatives are on file at the reference desks at Davis and Health Sciences libraries and at Chapin Library in the Department of City and Regional Planning.
