Carolina College for Seniors series focuses on entitlements

The outlook for federal entitlement programs will be examined in a four-part lecture series starting Thursday. The sessions will be held 2-3:30 p.m. in the Hill Alumni Center.

Florence G. Solyts, clinical assistant professor of social work, will moderate the sessions, sponsored by the General Alumni Association and the Orange County Department on Aging.

The series costs $25 for GAA members, $30 for non-members. To register, call Cathy Roessler, 2-3574.

Featured speakers for each session are:

*March 21--Lynn Perrin, assistant secretary of aging, N.C. Department of Human Resources, will present an overview of the N.C. entitlements.

*March 28--Andrew Dobelstein, professor of social work, will discuss Medicare and Social Security.

*April 11--Barbara Matulla, director of the Medicaid Division, N.C. Division of Medical Services, will talk about the impact of congressional changes on the state Medicaid program.

*April 18--Carmen Hooker, co-chair of the N.C. Health Reform Commission and former Massachusetts legislator, will focus on managed care and a person's right to health care.
