Bell award nominees due April 1

Nominations for the third annual Cornelia Phillips Spencer Bell Award, recognizing a woman who has made the most significant contribution to the University in recent years, are due by noon April 1. The honoree does not have to be a Carolina employee or alumna.

The award was established in 1993 as part of the Bicentennial Observance and named for Cornelia Phillips Spencer, whose tireless efforts helped ensure that the University would reopen after the Civil War. Previous award winners are Gladys Hall Coates and Norma Berryhill.

Letters of nomination should include the person's name and address, length of service and contribution to the University, changes brought about because of the contribution and other recognition (such as awards) received by the nominee.

Send nominations to Bell Award Selection Committee, Provost's Office, CB# 3000.
