Pulitzer-winning playwright Henley visits campus next week

Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Beth Henley will be on campus next week as this year's Morgan Family Writer-in-Residence. While here, she will be involved in several public events, including:

*March 25, 8 p.m., Hanes Art Center auditorium--screening of her film Crimes of the Heart, based on her play, which won the Pulitzer Prize for drama and the New York Drama Critics Circle Award for Best American Play.

*March 27, 7:30 p.m., Memorial Hall--lecture, weaving together passages from her plays regarding love, communication and connection.

*March 29, 2 p.m., Playmakers Theatre--scripted reading of Henley's play L-Play, directed by Christopher Baker, visiting assistant professor of dramatic art.

*March 29, 8 p.m., Playmakers Theatre--scripted reading of Henley's newest play, Impossible Marriage, under the direction of Adam Versenyi, associate professor of dramatic art.

The writer-in-residence program was established in 1993 by Allen and Musette Morgan to bring distinguished writers to the Carolina campus to teach courses, meet with students and faculty, and give lectures, readings and symposia.
