Sharon Lawrence, alumna and two-time Emmy-nominated actress on the popular television show NYPD Blue, will give the 17th Reed Sarratt Lecture at 7:15 p.m. Sunday in Memorial Hall.
Lawrence, who has played assistant district attorney Sylvia Costas since 1993, garnered her interest in drama as a student at Carolina when she pursued roles with PlayMakers Repertory Company, Department of Dramatic Art and Carolina Union productions. Since then, she has appeared on Broadway and in several television productions.
The Sarratt Lecture Series, created in 1987, honors the late University alumnus who served as city editor of The Charlotte News and as an editorial writer for the Baltimore Evening Sun.
