Three former Latin American presidents coming to campus

The Duke-UNC Program in Latin American Studies is bringing to campus this semester three former Latin American presidents to visit with students and give public lectures on presidential leadership and government reform in Latin America.

This month Belisario Betancur of Columbia will be on the two campuses, with his public lecture scheduled for Feb. 20 at 7 p.m. at Duke University. In March, Raul Alfonsin of Argentina will be here; followed by Miguel de la Madrid of Mexico in April.

Their visits are part of an effort to meet the Mellon Challenge to raise funding for the program. For more information on the visits, call 6-1484.
