Start stretching now to loosen those calf muscles. The fifth annual HEELS for health Spring Fling, a three-mile run or one-and-a-half-mile walk, starts at 12:15 p.m. April 26. Runners and walkers will meet at the brick courtyard between Fetzer and Woollen gyms.
For a little variety this year, participants are encouraged to don outlandish socks. No prizes will be given for creativity, but like last year, the department or team with the most participants will be recognized.
Refreshments will be provided at the end of the walk/run, and participants will be eligible for prize drawings.
Before the event, HEELS for health is collecting worn sneakers that are in good condition, to be donated to the homeless shelters in Durham and Orange counties.
To pre-register for the event, complete the form below and return it to HEELS for health by Friday: mail to CB# 8605 or fax to 2-4717. The staff encourages participants to register ahead of time, but those who wish to sign up the day of the event may do so.
