Graduage School dean search under way

A search for a dean of the Graduate School is under way among tenured faculty members. Nominations or expressions of interest should be sent in immediately as interviews could begin in early May, said Tom Meyer, vice provost for graduate studies and research.

"The new dean of the Graduate School will need to be a leader in presenting the case for graduate students to off-campus constituencies as well as in pursuing quality programs on campus," Meyer said. She or he will need to be both an effective manager and a scholar who can explain the significance of graduate education and help with fund raising, he said.

A detailed description of the position and the Graduate School is available from Kelly Gallagher, 2-6327 or ktgallag@

Other members of the search committee are Professors Tomas Baer, Carol Hogue, David Pike, Ruth Mitchell and Allan Steckler; and Katherine Kraft, president of the Graduate and Professional Student Federation.
