*Joseph M. Flora, professor of English, and Frank Wilson, professor of surgery, have been elected president and vice president, respectively, of the Thomas Wolfe Society. The two were elected at the society's annual meeting in Baltimore and will serve through 1997.
*Richard Rosen, professor of law and director of the Criminal Law Clinic, received a Fulbright grant to teach at the University of Asmara in Eritrea.
*Donald Forman, professor of pathology at the School of Medicine, has received the 1995 American Association of Clinical Chemistry's Division of Animal Clinical Chemistry Award.
*Lawrence L. Kupper, professor of biostatistics at the School of Public Health, has been selected to receive a Distinguished Achievement Medal from the American Statistical Association.
*Chirayath M. Suchindram, professor of biostatistics in the School of Public Health, has been designated a fellow of the American Statistical Association.
*Colin Hall, professor and vice chair of neurology and director of the AIDS Neurological Center at the School of Medicine, has been named to the Complications of HIV Research Agenda Committee.
*H. Garland Hershey, vice chancellor for health affairs, received the School of Pharmacy's Distinguished Service Award for his work advocating the school.
*Harold K. Roberts, Sarah Graham Kenan professor at the School of Medicine, has received the Robert P. Grant Medal, the highest honor given by the International Society on Thrombosis and Hemostasis. He was cited for his work in coagulation and the genetic basis of hemophilia.
*William Powell, professor emeritus of history, has been appointed chairman of the N.C. Historical Commission by Gov. James B. Hunt. He will hold the post until 2001.
*George F. Sheldon, professor and chairman of surgery at the School of Medicine, has been appointed to the Committee on U.S. Physician Supply formed by the Institute of Medicine, part of the National Academy of Sciences.
*Ann M. Woodward, professor and chair of the Department of Music, received the Maurice W. Riley Award, the highest honor given by the American Viola Society, for service to the profession and the society.
*Don Stedman, dean of the School of Education, has been appointed to the National Advisory Group of the Professional Development Schools Project of the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education in Washington, D.C. Stedman also has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the National Center for Family Literacy.
