Distinguished Alumnus Awards nominations due Sept. 22

Know a Carolina graduate who deserves special recognition? Faculty have until Sept. 22 to nominate alumna and alumni for one of five 1996 Distinguished Alumnus(a) awards.

To nominate, send a statement of the candidate's qualifications and appropriate biographical information to the Office of the Secretary of the Faculty in Carr Building. The recommendations must pass the Faculty Council and the Board of Trustees.

Recipients must have made an "outstanding contribution to humanity" in fields such as (but not limited to) business, government, education, research, science, art and literature. Recipients must have been enrolled at the University for at least one academic year. Finally, recipients may not have been employees at any of the 16 UNC universities within the past two years.

Submit nominations to George S. Lensing, secretary of the faculty, CB# 9170, 203 Carr Building, or call 2-2146.
