MacArthur Foundation “Genius” Award recipient Elizabeth
Streb brings her STREB team of daredevil performers to Memorial Hall Feb.
19–20 for 8 p.m. performances as part of the CHAT (Collaborations: Humanities,
Arts & Technology) Festival. The group has backgrounds in ballet, modern
dance, martial arts, acrobatics and circus skills, and it uses experimental
technologies such as the Whizzing Gizmo, shown here, to create a new vocabulary

Carolina Jazz Festival

Grammy Award winning trumpeter Terence Blanchard will
perform Feb. 26 at Memorial Hall at 8 p.m. as part of the Carolina Jazz
Festival. For tickets and prices, see carolinaperformingarts.org. Many festival
events will be free and open to the public, such as the Meet the Artists and
Faculty Jazz Jam on Feb. 24 in Hill Hall’s auditorium
at 4 p.m.
Among those featured will be Jim Ketch on trumpet, Stephen
Anderson on piano, Jason Foureman on bass, Thomas Taylor on drums – all
from Carolina – and as guest artists, Jason Marsalis on drums and vibes
and Ivan Renta on tenor sax.
