
Carl
takes post in distance learning
Executive
Vice Chancellor and Provost Robert Shelton announced Jan. 22 that
Linda Carl, assistant provost for educational programs, will assume
a new position beginning Feb. 15.
Carl will serve as associate director for distance education and
e-learning policy at the William and Ida Friday Center for Continuing
Education. In that role, she will conduct long-term planning and
develop policy guidance for distance learning programs and the
convergence between these programs and online programs for residential
students.
She also will have primary responsibility for coordinating Carolina's
approach to continuing education and distance learning and for
encouraging interdisciplinary education in these areas.

These
three staff members were recognized in the William and Ida Friday
Center for Continuing Education's annual awards program. Technology
manager, Ellis received the Extra Mile Award. Program assistant
for independent studies and Carolina Courses Online, Matier received
the Sunshine Award. Program coordinator for correctional education,
Oettinger received the Best All Around Award.
