Studies seek women as research subjects

Susan Girdler of the Department of Psychiatry is running two studies related to the menstrual cycle and is looking for women to participate. Each study pays $500 to participants.

The first is a study on the menstrual cycle, and for it, women ages 30-45 are being sought who have a regular cycle and do not experience significant premenstrual symptoms. They must be healthy and not taking any medications, including birth control pills.

The second study seeks women with severe premenstrual syndrome who are between the ages of 18-45, healthy and not taking any medications, including birth control pills. Severe premenstrual emotional symptoms are defined as severe enough to interfere with normal functioning and/or disrupt interpersonal relationships.

For more information on the studies, call Astrid Ertola, study coordinator, at 966-2547.
