Child
care subsidy available
The Child Care Financial Assistance Program
provides Carolina employees and students with a limited source
of funding for child care. The program is sponsored by the Chancellor's
Child Care Advisory Committee, which allocates a limited fund
annually to assist low-income employees with child care costs
in state registered, licensed or regulated programs.
Currently, some subsidy funds remain available. Because of limited
resources, the program must function on a first-come, first-served
basis. Interested families are encouraged to submit a subsidy
application as soon as possible.
In order to be eligible for child care subsidy through the University,
an employee must meet the following criteria:
Have a gross annual household income less than $30,000;
and
Be a permanent University employee working 30 or more
hours/week.
Carolina contracts with Child Care Services Association (CCSA)
in Chapel Hill to review applications for eligibility, process
subsidy awards and maintain waiting lists as needed. The University
also contracts with CCSA to provide child care resource and
referral information to employees.
In conjunction with UNC Health Care Systems, the University
also funds the University Child Care Center, located next to
the Friday Center on Highway 54.
For more information on child care programs or to receive the
subsidy application form, call Leslie Bacqué in the Employee
Services Department of the Office of Human Resources at 962-6008.
