Human Resources Nominations
for Chancellor's Award due April 19 Nominations for Chancellor's Award due April 19 Do you have a coworker, manager or employee who should be recognized for his or her outstanding contribution to the University? If so, then nominate that individual for the 2002 Chancellor's Award. The Chancellor's Award was established in 1991 to recognize the contributions of University employees. Awards are based on meritorious or distinguished accomplishments in the categories of Outstanding State Government Service, Innovations, Public Service, Safety/Heroism, Human Relations, or Other Achievements. Award recipients are honored at a recognition luncheon and receive a monetary award and a special leave award. Recipients of the Chancellor's Award also become the University's nominees for the Governor's Awards for Excellence. Many departments and work groups have established programs that recognize employees for significant contributions in categories similar to Chancellor's Award criteria. These groups are encouraged to consider submitting their recognition award recipients for consideration at this higher level. Nomination forms for the Chancellor's Award are mailed to all University employees. Forms also are available on the Human Resources web site, www.ais.unc.edu/hr/ Written nominations must be submitted by April 19. For more information, contact the Employee Services Department at 962-8829 or visit the Human Resources web site.
HR facilitator of the year nominations due April 26 Nominations are due April 26 for the 2002 HR Facilitator of the Year Award. Human Resources facilitators are employees in University departments who process permanent, temporary and student employee personnel actions; handle leave, benefits or payroll matters for their department; serve as the primary liaison between the Office of Human Resources and employees; or who supervise a work group that performs these functions. They are integral in ensuring that HR policies and procedures are followed in departments and that HR services are known and available to department employees. There are more than 350 HR facilitators on campus. The Office of Human Resources relies upon these individuals and has established this award program to recognize their service. The more specific the information included in the nomination, the better we can assess each nominee's contribution. Multiple or group nominations for a facilitator are welcome. Some criteria to consider include ambassadorship, customer service, knowledge and teamwork. Nomination forms may be downloaded at www.ais.unc.edu/hr/communications/ nomination.doc Return forms to Chris Chiron, CB# 1040; fax to 962-1065; or e-mail as an attachment to chris_chiron@unc.edu Nominees and the award recipient will be honored at a reception on June 7.
