The University Gazette is published for the faculty and staff of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Publication is twice a month except in July, August and December when it is published once.

Submissions

The deadline for calendar and editorial submissions is 5 p.m. Monday nine days before the publication date. But contact us as early as possible so we can plan the best coverage for your story and schedule a photograph, if desirable.

Material must be submitted in written form - preferably by e-mail - to avoid error and must include your name and telephone number in case the Gazette staff needs more information. Material may also be sent by FAX (2-2279) and campus mail (CB #6205). If you FAX material, clearly mark it for the Gazette because we share the machine with other offices. We suggest you call to confirm receipt.

Calendar Submissions

The calendar lists events open to faculty and staff, sponsored by Carolina departments, and held within Orange County. Include all necessary information, such as:

Sponsoring department or organization;
Date, time and location of event;
Title;
Presenter(s) and position or affiliation;
Fee;
Additional information, including registration deadline;
Phone number and/or e-mail and web address for interested readers to obtain more information and to register for the event.

Additional Tips

Include the Gazette on your campus mail and e-mail lists.
Send us your newsletter.
News Services' releases do not necessarily come to us in time to make our deadline, so do not rely on News Services to get material to us.
