Effective with this Gazette, we will limit lecture and training sections in our calendar to information that has broad interest across campus. We will use this semester as an evaluation period.
Our major reasons for making the change:
* We're aware that we print only a fraction of the lectures and training opportunities that are scheduled and feel we may be doing our readers a disservice by printing such an abbreviated list.
* The Gazette's mission is to present information of campuswide interest, and many lectures and training opportunities are highly specialized.
* The University's main calendar, found on-line at http://www.unc.edu/calendar, is meant to be Carolina's comprehensive calendar, and campus users can find all events -- those of both general and specialized interest -- listed there.
We hope this provides a service by making it easier to find items of broad appeal in our calendar. If you'd like more information about posting items to the main web calendar, contact joe_totten@unc.edu
