Ackland Art Museum
The Ackland Art Museum's Five Faiths poster series has been awarded first prize in the American Association of Museum's Museum Publications Design Competition under the educational resources category. The competition, which drew 1,172 entries, rewards excellence in the graphic design of museum publications.
James Bader
A research professor in the School of Dentistry's operative dentistry department, Bader participated in a national conference at the National Institutes of Health on the lifetime diagnosis and management of dental cavities.
John Brantley
Professor of school psychology in the School of Education, Brantley was elected president of the American Board of School Psychology. The Board is responsible for maintaining the standards and conducting specialty board examinations in school psychology.
Duane Brown
Professor of school counseling in the School of Education, Brown was elected to the position of trustee-at-large for the national Career Development Association. The association is the oldest organization for professional counselors.
William Droegemueller
Clinical Professor in the School of Medicine's Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Droegemueller received an honorary doctor of science degree from the University of Colorado. Droegemueller was awarded for his contributions as a teacher, researcher and author.
Catherine Marshall
Professor of educational leadership, Marshall was elected vice president of Division L of the American Educational Research Association. Division L focuses on Educational Policy and Politics.
Thomas McIver
Professor of pediatric dentistry, McIver received the Manual Album award from the Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. The award is given to pediatric dentists who have exhibited leadership and service to children, the specialty, the academy and the AAPD Foundation.
Aziz Sancar
Sarah Graham Kenan Professor of Biochemistry and Biophysics, Sancar has been named the 2001 Distinguished Lecturer by the North Carolina Section of the American Chemical Society. The annual award recognizes an individual who has made a distinguishable contribution to the chemical sciences.
George F. Sheldon
Zack D. Owens Distinguished Professor of Surgery and chair of the surgery department in the School of Medicine, Sheldon delivered the 175th Hunterian Oration at the Royal College of Surgeons in London. This lectureship is one of medicine's oldest and most distinguished.
