"Healing the Wounds of Racism," a free, public lecture and conversation with Naomi Tutu, will be held May 18 from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Dogwood Room of The William and Ida Friday Center for Continuing Eductation.
Tutu is the daughter of South African Archbishop Desmond Tutu and program coordinator for the Race Relations Institute at Fisk University. Her appearance at Carolina is spurred by her belief that action is still needed to eradicate the legacy of three centuries of racist oppression in South Africa.
"Healing the Wounds of Racism" is part of an ongoing lecture series on "Race, Ethnicity & Culture in Research and Service" presented by Carolina's School of Social Work and co-sponsored by the Frank Porter Graham Child Development Center, the Jordan Institute for Families and the National Center for Early Development and Learning.
