2001-2002 University Gazette schedule

The Gazette's schedule for the next year is now posted on this web site at "Got News?" to which you can navigate from our front page.

Submissions

Contact us as early as possible so we can plan the best coverage for your story and schedule a photograph, if desirable. Material must be submitted in written form -- preferably by e-mail to gazette@email.unc.edu -- to avoid errors and must include your name and telephone number in case the Gazette staff needs more information. Material also may be sent by fax

(2-2279) and campus mail (CB# 6502). If you fax material, clearly mark it for the Gazette because we share the machine with other offices. We suggest you call to confirm receipt.

Calendar

The calendar lists events open to faculty and staff, sponsored by Carolina departments, and held within Orange County.

Include all necessary information, such as:

* Sponsoring department or organization;

* Date, time and location of event;

* Title;

* Presenter(s) and position or affiliation;

* Fee;

* Additional information, including registration deadline; and

* Phone number and/or e-mail and web address for readers to obtain more information and to register for the event.

Additional tips:

* Include the Gazette on your campus mail and e-mail lists.

* Send us your newsletter.

* News Services' releases do not always reach us by our deadline, so do not rely on News Services to get material to us.

And one more thing

This week the Gazette unveils its streamlined new web address which was created to make it a bit easier to remember. Readers can now point their web browsers to http://gazette.unc.edu Anyone who has our old address bookmarked, however, will find that it still works.

In addition, we've been adding little extras from time to time on this web site. Readers might find the addition of pictures in color that the print version cannot accommodate or even extra information for which there wasn't space in the print edition.

Also, plans are in motion to reinstate our "Search the Archives" feature which so many readers have found to be valuable in the past. We'll make an announcement of that once it's back in place. Readers still can find back issues of the Gazette -- listed by date -- on this web site.
