Black Cultural Center hosts young poet's conference April 28, 29

The Sonja Haynes Stone Black Cultural Center is sponsoring two days of discussion, poetry workshops and video presentations as part of Ring Shout: Young Poet's Conference on April 28 and 29.

This year's conference, "Duel Consciousness: Poetry, Politics and Empowerment," plays on W.E.B. DuBois' idea of the double consciousness of the American Negro.

A poetry performance April 28 at 8 p.m. features NuYorican poet Jessica Care Moore.
