Concert features Susan Moeser


University Day events will conclude at 8 p.m. with a free concert performed by Carolina's Symphony Orchestra.

Sponsored by Department of Music, the concert will feature Aaron Copland's Clarinet Concerto and Camille Saint-Sains' Symphony No. 3 for organ. Tonu Kalam will conduct. Featured musicians will be Susan Moeser, wife of the chancellor, on organ and Bryan Crumpler, a Carolina senior and winner of the University's most recent Symphony Student Concerto Competition, on clarinet. The concert will open with Copland's Fanfare for the Common Man, guest conducted by Michael Votta Jr.

Moeser received a doctorate in musical arts in organ performances from the University of Kansas. She won the prestigious Fort Wayne National Organ Playing Competition in 1983 and is a well-known recitalist and workshop leader. She has performed around the world.

Tickets to the University Day concert are free but must be reserved in advance by calling 2-1039.
