Carolina to create first Cystic Fibrosis National Bioinformatics Center

The School of Medicine was awarded a contract by Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Therapeutics Inc., an affiliate of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, to create and maintain the nation's first comprehensive bioinformatics center for cystic fibrosis researchers.

The University will function as a central repository for data derived from gene expression studies. When one group uncovers important data, another participating group can use that information for its subsequent experiments.
