Adventures in Ideas fall weekend seminars announced


The following are the fall Adventures in Ideas Seminars sponsored by the Program in the Humanities and Human Values:

* "Persons of the Millennium I: The 11th through the 14th Centuries." Sept. 15-16.

* "Dictators: Castro, Milosevic, Hussein, Kim II Song and Kim Jong II." Sept. 22-23.

* The Annual E. M. Adams Lecture: William E. Leuchtenburg, "The Presidency in the Twentieth Century." Oct. 1.

* "Persons of the Millennium II: The 15th through the 18th Centuries." Oct. 13-14.

* "Look Homeward, Angel." With a performance by the PlayMakers Repertory Company. Oct. 20-21.

* "Witches, Wizards, Monsters, and the Imagination: A Seminar for Allhallows." Oct. 27-28.

* "Renaissance Venice." Nov. 3-4.

* "Beauty Is Truth, Truth Beauty: A Seminar on the English Romantics." Nov. 10-11.

* "Moral Philosophy: An Introduction to the Classics." Nov. 17-18.

* "Europe in the Year 2000." Dec. 1-2.

* "Persons of the Millennium III: The 19th and 20th Centuries." Dec. 8-9.

Through its Faculty-Staff Mentor Initiative, the Office of Distinguished Scholarships and Intellectual Life will fund the attendance at the Sept. 15-16 seminar for faculty and staff who register together with one or more students.
