A marathon reading of Thomas Wolfe's Look Homeward, Angel will be included in Carolina events next month that will be part of "A Thomas Wolfe Centennial" events being held at locations around the U.S. this year.
University Chancellor James Moeser will be the first reader at the Oct. 2-3 reading, which starts at 8 a.m. UNC President Molly Broad will be the last reader, finishing up at noon. A "birthday party" for Wolfe will follow Broad's reading.
People who want to sign up to read (10- to 15-minute segments) should contact Miranda Wilson at mwwilson@email.unc.edu
Other highlights of Carolina's Wolfe centennial events include an Oct. 17 lecture by author Tom Wolfe and an Oct. 22 presentation by author William Styron. (The Sept. 27 Gazette will include a story with details on these and other Thomas Wolfe happenings.)
Oct. 3 is the 100th anniversary of Wolfe's birthday. The Carolina alum died in 1938.
