Jeffery Beam
Assistant to the biology librarian botany section, Beam wrote An Elizabethan Bestiary: Retold, a book of poems that earned an "IPPY" award as one of the 2000 Ten Outstanding Independent Publisher Book Awards for books published in 1999. It also received special recognition for Best Book Arts Craftsmanship.
Joanne Gard Marshall
Dean of the School of Information and Library Science, Marshall has been awarded the Winifred Sewell Prize. The prize, awarded by the Biomedical and Life Sciences Division of the Special Libraries Association, recognizes a member who has shown leadership and innovation in the development and/or use of advanced technologies in the organization or dissemination of biomedical and life sciences information.
William F. Vann, Jr.
Demeritt distinguished professor of pediatric dentistry, Vann has been elected the 2000-01 president of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry Foundation, a position he held also in 1999-2000. The AAPD Foundation is the educational and research development arm of the Chicago-based American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, for which Vann served as president in 1990-91.
Bryan Weiner
Assistant professor of health policy and administration in the School of Public Health, Weiner has received the John D. Thompson Prize for Young Investigators from the Association of University Programs in Health Administration. The prize recognizes contributions to research literature in health services.
