Jazz students' second CD available at concert

An upcoming University Jazz Bands and Jazz Combos concert will double as a compact disc release party for Passages 2000, which the bands' students recorded live last summer when performing at three European jazz festivals. The CDs will be on sale for $12 at the Dec. 15 North Carolina Jazz Repertory Orchestra's Holiday Jazz Concert at 8 p.m. in the Hill Hall Auditorium.

CDs are also on sale at School Kids Records on Franklin Street. Passages includes music by George Gershwin, John Coltrane, Milt Jackson and student composers Scott Routenberg, Raj Iyengar, David Cosper and Kent Brooks.
