Interim Chancellor William O. McCoy is making plans to name an interim provost to fill in for Richard "Dick" Richardson, who will retire June 30, until a search committee selects a permanent replacement.
McCoy will make the final decision on an interim provost with consultation from James Moeser, who will start Aug. 15 as Carolina's chancellor.
McCoy also sought input on the decision from the Executive Committee of the Faculty Council, the Chancellor's Advisory Committee, the Chancellor's Cabinet and the Deans' Council.
