FOCUS data available via the web this summer

Applications programming staff members at AIS have been working for the past six months installing WebFOCUS, a web-enabled version of FOCUS, the existing campuswide reporting and database extract tool.

When installation and conversion of the software is complete this summer, it will offer campus customers the ability to use a web browser to create database extracts, reports, charts or graphs from the University business databases housed at AIS.

In addition to ad hoc end-user reporting, this product gives AIS applications developers another tool to offer new types of web access to University databases. WebFOCUS has already been used to create reports in support of the Chancellor's Budget Planning Process.

A vendor-supplied demo of this product can be seen at http://www.ais.unc.edu/webfocus/ibi_html/ggdemo/default.htm
