Employees get appreciated
Blue skies, free food, grooving music, fun games and lots of swag – how can you go wrong on Employee Appreciation Day?
Outside, employees dressed Friday casual ate hot dogs, burgers and barbecue and chatted at long tables set in the Pit. Others stood and swayed to the smooth sounds of the Irresistible Groove band. On the edges of the brick courtyard, some employees pitched baseballs at a target and shot basketball hoops.
Meanwhile, the higher the temperature (which reached the high 70s), the longer the line at the Ben & Jerry’s cart.
Inside the Great Hall, almost everyone carried a red-and-white Target bag (an early giveaway) that they continued to stuff with swag, like the Kick Up Your Heels lunch container they got at the door to the Student Union. A woman in a striped shirt stepped into the Blizzard of Dollars booth, where soon strips of paper Monopoly money were blowing around her, and she alternately grasped with her fingers and pulled in with her arms to capture the flying paper. At the photo booth, a couple threw on Viking helmets and paper leis to pose in front of the Old Well and with Rameses.
